| Animal Bite Reporting | |
|
All medical facilities are required, by law, to report any animal bites (not scratches) that come to the facility's attention. Yes, even your own pet. Yes, even if it was "just playing". Animal Control will call you or stop by your residence to determine whether the situation requires anything more than just verification that the animal is healthy and will be watched for signs of illness for ten days. They will ask if you want to file a formal report. If you don't, none will be filed. They will just check back in ten days to verify the condition of the animal. If the animal is a dog that is not up-to-date with vaccinations and licensing, both will need to be accomplished after the ten day observation period is over. Animal Control will check back on that also. If you don't know who owns the animal, or if it is wild, Animal Control will take a report and do whatever is necessary to ensure everyone's safety from the risk of rabies and other diseases. Your understanding and cooperation is greatly appreciated by both Haslett Redi Care and Animal Control. |
